Henderson Garage Door Lock Replacement
Handles, barrels, cables and side latches replaced on manual Henderson up and over garage doors, including older Merlin doors still found on many UK homes.
Manual garage doors only - no electric doors No fix, no fee 24/7, emergency and non emergencyHenderson garage door locks replaced and repaired
Henderson up and over doors have been fitted to UK homes for decades, and many older examples, including doors from the Merlin range, are still in daily use. Doors of that age often outlast their locks: the handle wears, the barrel stiffens and the cables stretch, but the door itself is perfectly serviceable.
We replace the parts that have failed rather than the door. On most Henderson doors that means a new handle lock, a new barrel with new keys, or new cables and latches, depending on what has worn.
Common Henderson lock faults
- Worn or seized barrel - the key is stiff or will not turn. A new barrel or handle lock restores it.
- Handle spins - the spindle or casting has worn through. See garage door handle spins.
- Locks on one side only - one cable has stretched more than the other on an older door.
- Lost keys on a door bought with the house - a new barrel or handle lock with new keys.
- Older doors where original parts are scarce - a compatible handle lock matched to the fixing holes and spindle.
Identifying your door before we attend
Henderson doors usually carry a label or sticker on the inside of the door panel or on the frame, which may show the model and year. Send a photo of it with your enquiry, together with a photo of the outside handle and of the lock mechanism on the inside of the door. That is normally enough to confirm which parts fit, so the right handle, barrel or cable can be brought on the first visit.
Where an original Henderson part is no longer made, we fit a compatible replacement designed for that door type and check that both side latches retract fully and lock again when the door closes.
We are an independent locksmith service. We are not the manufacturer and are not affiliated with or approved by any garage door brand named on this site. Brand names are used only to identify the doors we work on.
Manual doors only
We only work on manually operated up and over and side hinged doors that lock with a key. If your door has an electric opener, a remote or a wall button, you need a garage door engineer rather than a locksmith.
Frequently asked questions
Can you still get locks for old Henderson garage doors?
Original parts for older Henderson doors can be hard to find, but compatible handle locks and barrels are available for most of them. We match the replacement to the fixing holes and spindle on your door.
Do I need a new door if my Henderson lock breaks?
Almost never. The handle, barrel, cables and latches can all be replaced on their own.
Where is the model label on a Henderson door?
Usually on the inside of the door panel or on the frame. A photo of the inside of the lock is also helpful if there is no label.
Are you Henderson approved?
No. We are an independent locksmith service and are not affiliated with the manufacturer.
