Novoferm doors are made in Germany and have been sold in the UK for many years, including manual canopy and retractable up and over doors. On those doors the lock body sits behind the handle on the inside of the door and drives the locking points at each side.
When a Novoferm door stops locking, the cause is usually a worn cylinder, a failed lock body or a handle that no longer turns the mechanism. We identify which part has failed and replace that part rather than the whole door.
Common Novoferm lock faults
- Cylinder stiff or keys lost - a new cylinder with new keys.
- Lock body failed - the mechanism behind the handle no longer moves the locking points.
- Handle broken or forced - replaced with a handle that suits the door.
- Canopy and retractable differences - lock bodies differ between the two, so we confirm the door type first.
- Electric Novoferm doors - not covered. You need a garage door engineer.
Identifying your door before we attend
Novoferm doors usually carry a label or sticker on the inside of the door panel or on the frame, which may show the model and year. Send a photo of it with your enquiry, together with a photo of the outside handle and of the lock mechanism on the inside of the door. That is normally enough to confirm which parts fit, so the right handle, barrel or cable can be brought on the first visit.
Where an original Novoferm part is no longer made, we fit a compatible replacement designed for that door type and check that both side latches retract fully and lock again when the door closes.
